The preparation of the slopes on Monte Bondone

During your snow holiday the slope conditions must be perfect: nothing less.
And to achieve this goal our groomers work every evening and check the snow conditions every day, from the days before the season opening until its closing. Our ski area is among the most loved in Trentino, from beginners to professionals, from the super sporty to the little child: we guarantee perfect snow and absolute safety.

Slope conditions. Your questions

Our snow groomers travel the slopes every evening after closing and/or every morning before opening, depending on weather and snow conditions.
The groomers are very skilled professionals at "reading" the snow. Their experience, supported by the technology of the new grooming machines at our disposal, guarantees every day that the slopes are restored to the best starting conditions. The grooming of the slopes takes place every day.

However, snow is an element in continuous transformation, which changes a lot depending on environmental conditions, even within the same day. Weather conditions, humidity, minimum temperatures and sun exposure heavily determine the snow's hold, whose degradation during the day is  then accelerated by the lesser or greater number of skiers on the slope and especially by their level of experience.

In the evening the groomers go out again and the slope conditions are restored. However, the freshly groomed slope is not yet ready and the freshly cut snow is very soft: indeed, the cold of the night and low humidity are needed to make the snow "set" correctly, making it hard and skiable again within a few hours.

When it snows, it's always a celebration, but skiing during or immediately after a fresh snowfall is very different from skiing on already transformed snow. Freshly groomed snow is morphologically different from the existing snow because it hasn't had time to transform yet. The slopes are therefore softer, less uniform, and with the possibility of more or less large accumulations, and this condition remains as long as the snow does not consolidate after a couple of days and subsequent groomings. It is a natural phenomenon, which is part of the skiing experience and requires the skier to pay a little more attention.

Mild temperatures and bad weather make the snow heavy and wet. With the cold of the night, the slopes can then freeze and make the surface harder, making it difficult to ski. Even in this case, it is a natural phenomenon, and our team works to make the slope conditions more favorable so that they remain safe and enjoyable to ski. On icy snow, equipment maintenance becomes even more important. Make sure your skis or snowboard are properly maintained and that there are no defects on the edges: especially on these occasions, the condition of the equipment makes the difference.

Artificial snowmaking. Do you really know how it works?

Technical snow is made of nebulized water and compressed air that transform into small ice spheres that settle on the ground.
Attention! The climate must be sufficiently cold and dry for snow to form (about -2°C)

1 cubic meter of technical snow uses about 400-450 liters of water. And nothing else.

There are no additives in technical snow: it is made solely of water, 100%!

The water used is not wasted.

In spring the snow melts and returns to the water cycle.
